Follow her blog here. Check out what she had to say below,Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your blog?
I am Pallavi Singh Ruhail and I run a blog called ‘That Delhi Girl”. The reason for the name is, I have lived in a lot of cities for my studies or internship or work and people around me would always see me as ‘oh that Delhi girl’ and I don’t know why! I am a true Delhiite and I love the city even though I haven’t been in Delhi for years now! I have been blogging for 4 years now and it’s been a fun ride so far!You are a great blogger; how did you initially get started in the fashion blogging industry?
My blog was something I started as a hobby. I always had a thing for fashion and styling despite of my totally opposite academic background. By degree, I am a doctor with a masters in public health, I was a total nerd! So, the blog was something I just did over the weekends to satisfy my alter ego. But eventually the blog picked up and here I am!What would you say that is the biggest challenge about fashion blogging?
I think the biggest challenge is to create unique content. There are way too many fashion bloggers now and it’s only and only your content that differentiates you from the others or else you’ll be lost in the sea. Besides that, you must stay updated, understand what your audience likes and reacts best to, know the market, manage the finances while also working on networking to keep getting work. It’s a lot of things, you have to master the art of multitasking! You have recently shifted to US. How will you sustain the connect with your Indian followers?
I have a team in Delhi and we are still working on few projects. I am trying to create content more frequently now (I had to slow it down for few months as I was settling in here and focussing on the transition). It’s not easy because brands shy away from the logistics involved but it’s all manageable at the end of day. I am also going to start posting more travel stories since I have been traveling a lot off lately and that is something everyone can connect to. The idea is to broaden my spectrum in terms of content I offer in general and see how it goes from there. What are three blogs that you visit almost daily?
WhoWhatWear, Refinery29 & Huffington PostWho was your first style icon?
Has to be Jackie Kennedy, I can connect to her personal style the most! Chic, elegant and classy. How would you describe your personal style?
I am always bad at describing my personal style. I am one of those people who has a different look all together with each passing day. One day I’ll be out sporting athleisure, next something totally glam chic, the other Indian elements mixed with classic dresses and so on. It’s pretty dynamic, experimental and ever evolving. What is Your Favorite Place to Travel to? And why?
I have a huge travel bucket list. There are so many places that fascinate me. I can’t pin point one particular place but all I can say is I had been wanting to go to Bahamas and we just booked our vacation there for my 30th in September 🙂What do you think will be the big fashion trend for next season?
For next season, FW17, I see metallics, 70s inspired trends, power dressing/ androgyny, quilted jackets & coats, cozy knitwear and checks making it big! What advice would you have for someone who is just started blogging?
I would just say that stay true to your work, work hard and don’t chase money and fame, if you’re working in the right direction and putting honest work, everything else will follow!
